Norwich Terriers at the Midland Game Fair

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

On Sunday, James & I went to the Midland Game Fair with Ruth & two of the dogs (Homily & her granddaughter Capri).

We were helping out on the Norwich Terrier Stand in the British Rare Dog Breeds tent. Basically, telling people about Norwiches, and letting them play with ours – the idea is to try & educate people about them, and maybe get them to consider having one as a pet. I talked to lots and lots of lovely people, and actually surprised myself by being able to help a lot of them who had simple questions about the breed. I passed any difficult questions onto Ruth though!

The Norwich Terriers Stand

It was nice because I was able to give people the pet owners perspective on the breed – I think that some of the stand visitors found it useful to be able to talk about leaving them in the house alone, that kind of thing. I actually really enjoyed myself – it reminded me of the eden project where, even though we were working on the till, we were encouraged to chat to the visitors & recommend our favourite bits, etc. Just a nice chance to chat to people who are interested about something you love.

We had a wander around the Fair while we were there, and watched a few demonstrations. I love that kind of thing, watching gundogs work really fascinates me – and of course there was ferret racing which I always love, it’s so silly :P. Ruth was very nice & bought us some treats while we were wandering – cashew nuts in cinammon & sugar, frozen yoghurt, and some lovely cheeses. It reminded me of going to the Staffordshire County Show with my Mum & Dad every year while we were younger.

Flying Pepper

Um. James’s fault. I couldn’t resist playing in Photoshop when he suggested this.

There was a bit of puppy sitting on Saturday as well..

My hair dilemma – help me decide!

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Apologies in advance for this lame blog post, but I am torn by indecision.

So, I’m having a bit of an issue. I think I want to get my hair chopped off.

Before you get too alarmed, I’m not going to do anything too drastic! My hair is naturally straight, a nice (I think) shade of brown … and something James is very fond of!

I like it long, but I think that it’s been a bit too long for the last year or so – it’s getting a bit boring, and there isn’t a lot I can do with it, that I wouldn’t still be able to do if it was 1 ft shorter. At the moment it is down to my lower back, almost 2 ft long. Also, it is really heavy! That fact doesn’t help with my headaches, especially when I just want to tie it back & I can’t ‘cos it hurts too much due to the weight of it on my scalp!

This is it now, with some feathering around my face to give it a bit of shape:

Bowling Me

Here are some various photos from over the years, with my hair at varying lengths…

(click the photos to see them bigger/go to the flickr photo page)

Hen Do - Dec 08 2008 (I looked like a prat on my hen do)

At the pub - 2007 Half asleep! - 2007 2007 (Pic in the pink top is awful but it’s straight after the hair appt & I’m half asleep!)

Graduation - 2006 In bed - 2006 2006

2005 is missing.. I had a mad year & seemed to not take photos!

At a family do in 2004 At Flambards - 2004 2004

Old photo - 2003 2003

Between 1999 & 2003 is was long and straight. Shocker.

Back in 1999 1999 (Just to show you how freaky I am. I’ve hardly changed or aged in about 10 years. I swear, I’m 24 and I get IDed EVERYWHERE I GO)

So anyway, it’s pretty much always been long.. it doesn’t really suit me to have it any other way. I have to be able to get it up into a ponytail or I’ll scream! There is a lot of it in terms of thickness, and it grows about 6 inches a year.

I think I want to get it cut like it was in 2007, but maybe a touch shorter. Only a diddy bit though. It would be a big chunk off. About 10 inches. Somewhere between the 2003 & 2007 styles.

What do you think?

Puppy Photography

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

While James & I were puppy sitting on Saturday, I took the opportunity to have a play around taking some photos of the puppies while James cleared out their pen. Here are my 3 favourite shots, cleaned up & tweaked in photoshop:

Puppy

“This is my good side!”

Pile of Puppies

A whole pile :D

Brew's Puppy

“RUB MY BELLY!!”

What do you think? Aren’t they just SO CUTE?!?!?!

Apologies for the caps there.

I got a little overexcited. I don’t know how I manage to stop myself kidnapping these adorable things every time we go over.

It takes a lot of will to walk away.

Hey look, I won something!

Monday, September 21st, 2009

So, I took part in this avon competition (moneysavingexpert link), which is being held to celebrate breast cancer awareness month, and actually won something!

thebigkisschase

This might have been helped by the fact it’s more like a massive giveaway poorly disguised as a competition, but never mind. I WON!

Here is my funky “Ultra Colour Rich Mousse” lip stick thing:

lipstick

It’s metallic rose which is pretty much the colour I would have picked, so hurrah! It’s actually really nice & very pretty. Tastes really yummy too.

(If you want to enter the competition & you’re having trouble figuring out the answer, check out the moneysavingexpert forum thread I linked to above)

Announcing SOBSIPAAATC!!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Don’t blame me. Chad made it up. Blame him.

SOBSIPAAATC is a club for people who suffer from chronic pain conditions, and have to deal with the trials & tribulations that ensue, most notably the weird & not-so-wonderful side effects that pain medications have.

If you suffer from a chronic pain condition & empathise with us, please feel free to join! We are a friendly bunch who don’t judge each other for having the odd (almost daily) moan about our pain or having to take medication that makes us spaced out, nauseous, drowsy, etc!

Ok, I admit it. This site is for the giggles, just a little bit. That acronym was too good to resist.

Kinda a weird coinky-dink that we made it up during Invisible Illness Awareness Week though.

Go take a look!
