On Sunday, James & I went to the Midland Game Fair with Ruth & two of the dogs (Homily & her granddaughter Capri).
We were helping out on the Norwich Terrier Stand in the British Rare Dog Breeds tent. Basically, telling people about Norwiches, and letting them play with ours – the idea is to try & educate people about them, and maybe get them to consider having one as a pet. I talked to lots and lots of lovely people, and actually surprised myself by being able to help a lot of them who had simple questions about the breed. I passed any difficult questions onto Ruth though!
The Norwich Terriers Stand
It was nice because I was able to give people the pet owners perspective on the breed – I think that some of the stand visitors found it useful to be able to talk about leaving them in the house alone, that kind of thing. I actually really enjoyed myself – it reminded me of the eden project where, even though we were working on the till, we were encouraged to chat to the visitors & recommend our favourite bits, etc. Just a nice chance to chat to people who are interested about something you love.
We had a wander around the Fair while we were there, and watched a few demonstrations. I love that kind of thing, watching gundogs work really fascinates me – and of course there was ferret racing which I always love, it’s so silly :P. Ruth was very nice & bought us some treats while we were wandering – cashew nuts in cinammon & sugar, frozen yoghurt, and some lovely cheeses. It reminded me of going to the Staffordshire County Show with my Mum & Dad every year while we were younger.
Um. James’s fault. I couldn’t resist playing in Photoshop when he suggested this.
There was a bit of puppy sitting on Saturday as well..
Did you do anything nice at the weekend?
