Our Bedroom is DONE!!

Ok, so this is what our bedroom looked like before we started…

Bedroom 1

Bedroom - Before Bedroom - Before

Complete with really dodgy wallpapering…

With Carly’s help, we stripped off the wallpaper to remove some lovely smooth plastering…

Bedroom - In Progress Bedroom - In Progress

And painted the walls and woodwork white (we needed to undercoat the walls)…

Creepy white walls

And then painted the walls blue…

Colours In progress

We put back the furniture, and we were done!

Bedroom (from the corner)

Bedroom (from the door)

We even put up shelving, which are perfectly level! The ceiling isn’t though, so they look wonky!

Level New shelves!

And now I am so happy cos I have a large proportion of my books in the bedroom! There is just one little bookshelf left downstairs, and a shelf or two in the spare room too.

Books! New shelves

What do you think??

Love it!! The shelves look great from the pics but I totally know what you mean about wonky ceilings making other things seem wonky. Great job you guys!

Thanks! We spent ages trying to make them level with both of us measuring and marking and remeasuring and checking the levels.. and then when they were up I stood back and had a terrible moment of “oh no the top one is sloping about 10cm!!” but then we realised it was just the stupid ceiling!

I’m actually quite proud of what we’ve achieved – it’s been a lot of work, that wallpaper took AGES to get off completely, and I had to do SO many coats of white paint to cover the plaster evenly, where it was patchy!

OMG, so jealous! It looks gorgeous. I’d kill for that much space. *g*

Hee, I love it! It feel SO much bigger than it used to because the furniture layout is so much better, with the bed on the different wall (it was where the bookcases are before). It’s nice to have loads of my books in there right by the bed too – though it’s nothing to your collection!

I just have to put all our clothes and stuff back in the right places now!

Thanks! I loooove reading so much, that’s why I’m a bit book crazy! There are more downstairs (a small bookcase) & in the spare room (just a shelf or two) as well.. I’m a little bit addicted! I blame my parents, they taught me to read before I started school! When I go into a charity shop, I always head straight to the bookshelves before looking at anything else :-)

That looks so much better!! I love how you did different shades of blue after the chair rail. Nice work!

And ugh, whoever thought that purple was a good idea before you was on something…
