7 Useful iPhone Photography Apps

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

With the arrival of the iPhone 3GS, and my jealousy of the improved camera & processing power, I have taken a day or so to try out several new photography apps on my iPhone 3G – I have come to the conclusion that I can’t afford to get one until my current contract is eligible for upgrading in December, so I may as well make the best of what I’ve got! So here is a review of the new apps I’ve tried, along with some stalwart favourites I already use regularly.

I will be reviewing 7 apps – and they are all apps that I would recommend to anyone who takes a lot of photos with their iPhone, as I do. The apps I am reviewing are: AutoStitch, Photogene, NightCamera, Mobile Fotos, Flickit, ShakeItPhoto, and HP iPrint.

iPhone Photography Apps

I already have a fairly good point and click camera – the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 which was a wedding present to James & myself. However, I don’t always have this with me, and if I do it is no doubt sitting at the bottom of my bag. More often than not, I will find myself pulling out my iPhone from my pocket to take the quick snaps of everyday life – the blink & you’ll miss it ‘kodak moments’. As a result, about half of my photos are probably taken with my iPhone.

Warning! This post is very image heavy. (more…)

Cake!!

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

I am very proud of myself today because I made a coffee cake all by myself, and it looks great (even if I do say so myself!).

In the past, I have had a slight problem with cakes… The never seemed to rise, at all. So I was half dreading the outcome of my experiment this weekend, after my new cake tins arrived on Friday. Imagine my joy when I pulled the tins out of the oven and the cake looked like cake instead of there being a large biscuit type object lying in each tin. Woohoo! I’m 24 next month, and I finally baked a succesful cake!!

Oh, and I decorated it with sugar flowers and silver balls cos I don’t like walnuts!! I’m so excited to get The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook and bake more treats, I have a feeling I will be unwrapping it in about a months time!

Shopping!

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

I’ve had a bit of a rubbish afternoon/evening today, as I was struck with an almighty headache after lunch and had to give up on the wallpaper stripping and climb into bed. As a result I’ve spent the last 8 hours or so in a drug induced haze, whilst James has been an absolute star and almost finished stripping the walls.

Anyway, I thought in an effort to cheer myself up I would share what new purchases I got this week! I bought all of these from Simply Be, which is a fantastic ‘big girls’ website, with actual reasonable prices. I’m not extremely gigantic, but I am a plus size girl, and usually fit into the top end of ranges in New Look etc. However I find that clothes from places such as Evans or Simply Be are designed to cope with big boobs & a big bum a bit better than most high street shops!

This was my first clothes shopping this year so I was all exciting to try it all on, and I love it all so yay!

What do you think? I got it all for about £80 + postage :-)

Six #Followfriday Suggestions

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Following up from my recent Follow Friday post, I have put another list of fabulous people you should be following together for you!

Follow Friday is a group meme on Twitter where everybody suggests new people to follow. It’s a great way of discovering new people on Twitter – you might even make some great new friends.

“What he/she says” is stolen from their twitter bios, btw.. so if I call you boring it’s cos you haven’t bothered writing one!

@paulpuddifoot (Paul Puddifoot)
What he says: Nothing. Boorrrring.
What I say: “Nice guy, friendly! Currently obsessed with Sims 3 – I’m very jealous as I haven’t got it yet!”

@AlrightTit (Lisa Lynch)
What she says: “Write, editor, author-in-training. Blogging through The Bullshit at www.alrighttit.com.”
What I say: “Brilliantly honest and funny – she’s currently blogging her way through the crap that is breast cancer, which is well worth a read.”
Her website: Alright Tit

@serenium (Chad Round)
What he says: “22. M. Shy. Slightly geeky. Toast fiend.”
What I say: “Nice bloke! He’s already summed it up nicely there :-)”
His website: Balance Point

@LaChatNoir (Tanya Burley)
What she says: “Insomniac actor/writer with cyber addiction.”
What I say: “Fabulous lady, very fun to chat to :-)”
Her website: La Chat Noir’s Ramblings

@takemeback (Christine G.)
What she says: “It doesn’t really matter what clothes I wear or how I fare of if my hair is brown”
What I say: “She’s fantastically fun, and there is a blooming romance going on right now, definitely worth following for the fun of that!”

@O2 (O2 in the UK)
What he says: “Hello, welcome to the Twitter channel of O2 in the UK. Let’s talk!”
What I say: “I know this is strange to include in follow friday, but this guy is quite funny, and very helpful if you are an iPhone user in the UK. Squeeed his way through the keynote with the rest of us!”

Oooh, handy! Glyphboard for iPhone.

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Glyphboard is a webapp for iPhone 3.0 users, which takes advantage of the wonder that is cut, copy & paste.

It’s a sort of keyboard which lets you type glyphs not available on any of the standard iPhone keyboards. These glyphs include , ☂, ☺, ✔, and even ♫.

Basically, you launch the app, and you can copy the glyphs you want to put in your blog post/tweet/email, and then you can navigate to whichever app you’re using and paste them in. It even allows for a string of glyphs to be copied, by offering a sort of ‘scratch pad’ where you can collect them together.

To get Glyphboard on your iPhone, just use this handy link (and don’t forget to save it to your home screen as a webapp for future use!).

This is going to be very useful for fun tweets!
